Volunteers at the Topanga Banjo•Fiddle Contest are a special breed. Their skills run the gamut, and they choose from a host of different roles to apply those skills. Their common ground is their passion for music, musicians and non-musicians alike. A passive experience of the venerable Contest is not enough for them. Our volunteers choose instead to be an active and integral part of the festival, impacting and helping to carry on its beautiful legacy of friendly musical competition, professional performances, and of course, communal music under the Oaks of the rustic Paramount Ranch.
Many of our volunteers return year after year, and we relish the fresh faces as well! Volunteers can work before, during, and/or after the Festival, bringing their enthusiasm to a variety of jobs - from ticket sales to stage work, from prize distribution to craft services, and everything in between. We are currently seeking volunteers who want to help us craft new musicians, as part of our new feature, The Instrument Petting Zoo. We'd love to hear from those who play an instrument and would enjoy sharing it with potential musicians-in-the-making!s
Use our volunteer form to inform of us of your abilities and limitations. We try our absolute best to assign volunteer shifts (which are a minimum of two hours) that work best for you. We welcome your feedback and appreciate your flexibility in accepting your assignment!
Please consider joining our crew this year, and know that your contribution is truly valued. Thanks in advance for your interest in volunteering; we cannot put this event on without your help.
In addition to our treasured volunteer pool, we are always on the lookout for those who'd like to take it one step further-- our "Super Volunteers." If you are interested in working behind the scenes during the months leading up to the Contest, we can definitely use your help and enthusiasm! We often require assistance in the areas of graphic arts, trades (construction / electrician), organization, advertising / promotion / publicity, legal, vendor relations, and much more. Please don't hesitate to contact Kayli Blundell at firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss how you might be able to become more involved in our organization.
